About: MATEC-WI is housed in at the University of Wisconsin within the School of Medicine and Public Health. We provide trainings and educational programs specifically tailored to meet the needs of HIV care organizations and providers. These trainings are intended for clinicians working in a variety of settings including academic medical centers, federally qualified community health centers, other primary care clinics, and state and local agencies. Our programs may take the form of lunchtime trainings for clinic staff, technical assistance, or distance-based learning opportunities.

Ongoing Program Offerings:

  • Advanced Clinical Workshop - We partner with the American Academy of HIV Medicine and the Wisconsin Communicable Disease Harm Reduction Section to present an intensive workshop on a key topic in HIV care each year. The workshops are designed for experienced HIV providers and feature national and regional expert presenters, case discussions, and provide an opportunity to explore a key topic in HIV care within the local context.
  • CDC CBA Network - We provide support and expertise to build upon existing strengths in clinic-based HIV prevention activities to provide comprehensive services for HIV PrEP.
  • HIV Treaters Meeting - This is our signature program for HIV care providers in Wisconsin, linking clinicians from across the state via Webex videoconference for a one-hour, case-based discussion of current issues in HIV care each month. Facilitated by key leaders in HIV care, the meetings feature lively discussions of current issues in HIV care and are an important resource for both experienced and new HIV providers.
